Subway

Public transportation in losangeles is nothing in comparison to London or NY but we are gradually getting there. Dee and I took the convenient subway to explore downtown losangeles. While waiting for the subway which was roughly about 15 min. We were pleasantly entertained by two gentlemen playing their guitars. They are originally from Florida and like most people thought that their act would be most successful in losangeles. The sound that they deliver is well ...why don't you listen for yourself.Solaz

Lady Gaga - Weird is the New Sexy

Who knew Lady Gaga's eccentric/provocative presence in the music scene would start a new wave of electro-pop heads while igniting this morbid futuristic type fashion influence all over the world?

WHO CARES. Don't really care what anyone says... She's disturbingly sexy and has catchy commercialized songs. Plus she cleans up pretty nicely too.

Last Night ..ChA cHa's

Cha Cha lounge is a unique bar in Silverlake losangeles where you can relax and hangout with friends. They have a photo booth and two Foosball tables for entertainment. The drink prices are average $$.

It is also a neat place to meet interesting people such as Lara Anderson from Little Red Radio. Which is a local losangeles band.

Who Doesn't Want to Be Pampered?

Don't be fooled by this venue's lack of awning signage off of Robertson Boulevard in Beverly Hills. Within the three blocks of shops there must be at least three other nail salons. Natures Nails is truly a gem for the following reasons:

- First and foremost, $25 for mani/pedi in Beverly Hills??? Ridiculous right? Awesome actually...
- What differentiates this place from the others is apparent right when you walk in the door - no harsh chemical smell! This is because they don't do acrylic nails. Now this may be a bad thing for those who seek for it, but for me I love it because I never get them anyways.

- They will work with YOUR schedule.  Meaning that if you call and request a certain time even its before/after normal business hours, they will accommodate.

- What really brings me back is the unusually nice beauticians that takes great care of you... in a sincere manner. I was so used to the "talking in another language about you or another client right in front of you to another coworker while smiling at you" type of service. Be sure to make friends with the owner Tracy... she'll treat your wigglies well.

OK... but I do have to mention the only bad/annoying thing about this place. Parking. But where isn't this an issue in our beloved losangeles. Because this is on the boulevard,  its metered parking only unless you get lucky in the residential area. So do what I do... come any day after 6PM when the meters are FREE. Oh, and no massaging chairs... that stuff ends up hurting me more at the end anyways with its jabbing spine move.

That about sums it up... You can find me here twice a month!

By the way, I'm not comfortable with shooting my own feet so I pulled this photo from yelp.

Hide Sushi Really Does Hide Well (Pun Intended)

I am not a sushi lover nor am I able to swallow sashimi let alone sushi without regurgitating... that is until I came here to this joint in west losangeles. I can honestly say I enjoyed the texture and smell of the recently dead fish on a tart-y pile of rice. This place might have just opened my food palette to the world of the overrated sushi frenzy. I'm surprised none of my sushi-crazed friends have taken me here! Anyways, here's the scoop:

  • Well hidden amongst the 10,000's of restaurant on Sawtelle between Olympic + Santa Monica... you may pass it thinking its an abandoned house of some sort. But for a place with such terrible signage, the place is "poppin"! So be prepared to wait it out a bit... perhaps check out our blog while waiting =)
  • The venue is one of the few restaurants on Sawtelle that has free validated parking that's not in a Plaza.
  • Nothing special as far as the decor goes... just your typical mom n' pop look - table. chair. lights.
  • Its friendly, attentive and "Speedy Gonzales" service is outstanding. No joke. Even with a full house, I barely had to wait to feed my yearning stoamch.
Here, you get both quality and quantity. I must say the pricing is great. Probably because it's a CASH ONLY place. HAHA - sneaky asian folks cheating the system... more power to you =)  If your food wasn't so great Hide Sushi... I'm sure you'd be accepting credit cards too.
