Hollywood's New Classy Joint - BARDOT

From what was the drug/douche infested electronic after-hours spot "Spider Club" to today's charming upscale "Bardot"... Kudos to the new owner of this establishment. I've always known it had potential to be a classy joint. Now it is.

Great vibe, crowd, decor, various live music performances in the large patio area, no ridiculous bottle-required booths because it's on a first come first serve basis, pretty cocktail servers... Basically how Hollywood SHOULD BE.

The only teeth grinding aspect is the Hollywood priced drinks and the $20/parking. FYI - I would park in the lot one block east of Vine which charges $10 unless you hit jackpot with street parking.

Otherwise, it's a great lounge - perfect for birthdays... I had a little Asian glow going on last Saturday with my friend Amanda celebrating her friend Blake's birthday. Happy 30th!

Electric Daisy Carnival for the Electro Heads!

Went to EDC on Saturday night... I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the reknowned DJ's track selections like Benny Benassi/Armin Van Buuren/Roger Sanchez but pleasantly surprised by Groove Armada/MSTRKRFT. With that said, I still think the rave scene is experiencing "technical difficulties" these days. We need to take it back to 1999!

More artwork was visible all around the giant playground from previous years. Perhaps next year Sarah can join and get us all in for free! LOL =p

But gotta love the dancers at each stage for live entertainment! This was earlier in the day hanging out at the Drum & Bass stage...

Just don't be stupid... be safe and have fun!

adding on
The damage of EDC : (2 people in intensive care) (75 people in comatose)... what the fuck is wrong with you idiots.
The mission of raves has been absent well past 99'. Growing up with two older sister( 10yr and 8yr age gap) that were present at the begning and end of raves. I hold onto the old rules and beliefs of being a raver.
( My sister on the left )
what is today is not raving it is a bunch of junkies finding a spot to do their damage. mission accomplished. well done you scum of America. well done.

LoadED..bang bang

Loaded is a new bar on Hollywood. This spot was once Tiny's which was a punk dive bar.
Loaded tries to give the same punk vibe as Tiny's did with over sized pictures of the Sex Pistols and other punk bands. In actuality they are just main stream trying to sell an image to lure people in.

But hey.. they have live entertainment!!!
ill drink to that.. (wearing a vintage cha cha shirt - thank mom)

Being a total goof at the Getty in Brentwood. Classy.
The Getty is a great place to spend a sunny day. They have a cafeteria, but if your tight on money they have a beautiful garden where you can set up a picnic. The view of losangeles is amazing on a clear day( no smog)

    Currently the Getty is exhibiting
The Spectacular Art of Jean-Léon Gérôme  June 15–September 12, 2010.
Which is truly an awesome showing. The vivid colors and attention to detail in every painting is unreal.

Detachable hoodie

While having a drink at bar 107 in downtown losangeles I noticed this awesome hood. It is a detachable hood that you can accessorize with any outfit. ( Don't know the designers name. Waiting for that info. will post once received) This hood is especially awesome because it is being worn by one of the members from

Probably one of the "hipper" dive bars in Downtown losangeles. Packed pretty much all days of the week, two bar areas, small dance floor in the back, great music selection, photobooth, one bathroom per gender, no smoking area (walk outside), cheap drinks, attentive bartenders, random-ass interior decor with a HIT OR MISS crowd. With all that said, this place smells pretty bad. Just make sure you are liquored up before you walk in.

EDISON vomit

Edison bar in downtown is a part of the historical revamping of downtown losangeles. The decor is a 1920 flapper burlesque theme with silent movies playing on every blank wall.

Pixies offering poison in a bottle.

But don't be fooled by the pretty interior. This bar has a stench to it. It smells like assholes, and douches.
The staff discriminates and acts as if they are better then you. Their dress code is strict and bizarre. My best guy friend wasn't let in due to his attire. He was wearing classic Converses / black Zara slacks / Joe's Jeans sheer long sleeve. What shocks me is that another guy was let in wearing an American Eagle shirt/ blue jeans / classic Converse. .. really?
I will never go here again ..vomit

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The only good thing mentioning is the venue itself like Hannah mentioned. Classy 20's decor, spacious and they put on burlesque performances once in a while.

Weekends are a no-no, they have this ridiculous line that is usually a one hour minimum wait. I'm going to probably call out everybody right now but whoever waits in this line lives a sad, sad life or you just don't know any better... pobrecitos. So let me be clear - this place is for douchebags on the weekends.

Although Happy Hours are considerable being that they have great promotions such as (i) $1 cocktail drinks and (ii) $2 beers in the summer... so say no to weekends children!

Subway

Public transportation in losangeles is nothing in comparison to London or NY but we are gradually getting there. Dee and I took the convenient subway to explore downtown losangeles. While waiting for the subway which was roughly about 15 min. We were pleasantly entertained by two gentlemen playing their guitars. They are originally from Florida and like most people thought that their act would be most successful in losangeles. The sound that they deliver is well ...why don't you listen for yourself.Solaz

Lady Gaga - Weird is the New Sexy

Who knew Lady Gaga's eccentric/provocative presence in the music scene would start a new wave of electro-pop heads while igniting this morbid futuristic type fashion influence all over the world?

WHO CARES. Don't really care what anyone says... She's disturbingly sexy and has catchy commercialized songs. Plus she cleans up pretty nicely too.

Last Night ..ChA cHa's

Cha Cha lounge is a unique bar in Silverlake losangeles where you can relax and hangout with friends. They have a photo booth and two Foosball tables for entertainment. The drink prices are average $$.

It is also a neat place to meet interesting people such as Lara Anderson from Little Red Radio. Which is a local losangeles band.

Who Doesn't Want to Be Pampered?

Don't be fooled by this venue's lack of awning signage off of Robertson Boulevard in Beverly Hills. Within the three blocks of shops there must be at least three other nail salons. Natures Nails is truly a gem for the following reasons:

- First and foremost, $25 for mani/pedi in Beverly Hills??? Ridiculous right? Awesome actually...
- What differentiates this place from the others is apparent right when you walk in the door - no harsh chemical smell! This is because they don't do acrylic nails. Now this may be a bad thing for those who seek for it, but for me I love it because I never get them anyways.

- They will work with YOUR schedule.  Meaning that if you call and request a certain time even its before/after normal business hours, they will accommodate.

- What really brings me back is the unusually nice beauticians that takes great care of you... in a sincere manner. I was so used to the "talking in another language about you or another client right in front of you to another coworker while smiling at you" type of service. Be sure to make friends with the owner Tracy... she'll treat your wigglies well.

OK... but I do have to mention the only bad/annoying thing about this place. Parking. But where isn't this an issue in our beloved losangeles. Because this is on the boulevard,  its metered parking only unless you get lucky in the residential area. So do what I do... come any day after 6PM when the meters are FREE. Oh, and no massaging chairs... that stuff ends up hurting me more at the end anyways with its jabbing spine move.

That about sums it up... You can find me here twice a month!

By the way, I'm not comfortable with shooting my own feet so I pulled this photo from yelp.

Hide Sushi Really Does Hide Well (Pun Intended)

I am not a sushi lover nor am I able to swallow sashimi let alone sushi without regurgitating... that is until I came here to this joint in west losangeles. I can honestly say I enjoyed the texture and smell of the recently dead fish on a tart-y pile of rice. This place might have just opened my food palette to the world of the overrated sushi frenzy. I'm surprised none of my sushi-crazed friends have taken me here! Anyways, here's the scoop:

  • Well hidden amongst the 10,000's of restaurant on Sawtelle between Olympic + Santa Monica... you may pass it thinking its an abandoned house of some sort. But for a place with such terrible signage, the place is "poppin"! So be prepared to wait it out a bit... perhaps check out our blog while waiting =)
  • The venue is one of the few restaurants on Sawtelle that has free validated parking that's not in a Plaza.
  • Nothing special as far as the decor goes... just your typical mom n' pop look - table. chair. lights.
  • Its friendly, attentive and "Speedy Gonzales" service is outstanding. No joke. Even with a full house, I barely had to wait to feed my yearning stoamch.
Here, you get both quality and quantity. I must say the pricing is great. Probably because it's a CASH ONLY place. HAHA - sneaky asian folks cheating the system... more power to you =)  If your food wasn't so great Hide Sushi... I'm sure you'd be accepting credit cards too.
